How the Eastbourne IHM HQ will operate.

We are intending to take patients with problems as paying guests in the B&B and monitor them for the period of time they elect to stay with us. A daily observation/case review will take place.

I would like 2 or more practitioners to be present at the initial intake, and share in the discussion afterwards to choose a remedy and treatment protocol. Should a practitioner require to stay overnight, if we have space, we can offer accomodation at reduced rates. We are surrounded by restaurants and delivery services, or if a few colleagues are staying, our kitchens can produce an evening meal.

p1060363I have not got around to sorting fees, either from us or to us from patients and practitioners. That will come later.

I have all the remedies required made in our own pharmacy from Spain. I mainly use LM potencies. These will be available for use.

If an approved practitioner would like to use the premises for their own practice, we can discuss.

For overseas practitioners coming for the 4 day application for joining the IHM Register, we will include up 4 nights free accomodation  (breakfast included) subject to space and eligibility. This is not part of the training fee so please treat as a gift and not a right.

These are a few of the complications that we have treated successfully.

Training Seminars.

The I.H.M will continue with its specialist 2 day training Seminars for advanced students and practitioners.

Pre Covid, these seminars were conducted in Spain, Bangkok, Hong Kong, USA and Europe. The seminars arose out of the request from practitoners to give aid in cases that were not resolving. I found it easier to show the methodology according to Hahnemanns directions rather than solve one case for them.

Seminar #1. Case taking. Certificate course.

1/. Examine the protocol for extracting the symptoms of the disease the patients are suffering from.

2., Observe the picture of the disease and isolate the strange rare and peculiar.

3/. Find the closest remedy with the same symptoms that has the disease picture in it.

4/. Read the remedy in the correct manner to ascertain if the pace and pitch of the disease fits the remedy with no opposing symtoms to negate the prescription.

5/. View and analyse several cases on video and powerpoint to comprehend Hahnemanns methodology.

6/ We will use the Therapeutic Pocket Book by Boenninghausen as our repertory of choice.

We will present this course for a minimum of 6 practitioners (maximum of 12) to facilitate interaction and personal guidance as required.

working lunchThe course will be conducted at the I.H,M. clinic and centre in Eastbourne after June on completion of the purchase of the property. The dining room will seat 20 comfortably and have full catering and refreshment and electric point for computers.

The book version of the repertory by Polony and Weaver is available at attendee discount, as is the computer repertory.

The progress for the IHM as of March 2021

We are providing an online course in Spanish through the Mexican I.H.M. facility.

https://instituteforhomoeopathicmedicine.org/2021/03/06/our-online-course-in-mexico/

In the UK, we are concentrating on practitioner training in-house, to ensure total absorption of the material presented and to be sure the individual has a firm grasp on the process of case taking and what to concentrate on for rubric and remedy selection.

We aim to provide a centre for practitioners who wish to learn Hahnemannian homoeopathy via one and two-day seminars, mentoring programs, live patient assessments, study nights and guest speakers. To facilitate this, we are in the process of purchasing a commercial guest house in Eastbourne for in-stay patients and clinic. We concentrate in the main on using the Therapeutic Pocketbook as an accurate repertory that emulates the methodology of Hahnemann.

Our breakfast room on its own will seat 10 comfortable for seminars, and with the addition of the adjoining lounge, 16 persons.

We will solely be focused on homoeopathy and the appropriate remedies and not include flower remedies or the use of.

https://instituteforhomoeopathicmedicine.org/2021/01/13/are-the-bach-flower-remedies-valid-homoeopathic-treatments/

We will of course consider mechanical adjustment if required via osteopathy or chiropractic as an adjunct to the curative treatment if a joint needs realigning.

For those wishing to take the four-day course to become a member of the IHM Register, the intensive teaching will also as a bonus include 3 free nights and breakfast at the hotel. Subject to availability, extra nights can be booked for a reduced fee.

We hope to be taking possession and working on the courses from June.

Further thoughts on choices……..

While COVID has everyone in the UK locked down, We at the I.H.M. are taking a tentative look forward to the future. When and how are the 2 questions.

Im in conversation with my colleagues with regard to these questions, simply because I have no idea as to whether Homoeopathy as a profession still exists in the UK or whether indeed there are enough practitioners who want to improve their skills in applying Hahnemanns successful methodology in their casework.

We will outline our plans again. We are looking at purchasing a small 8 bedroom guest house hotel on the seafront of a south-west town for use as a clinic/teaching centre and in stay patient treatment facility. We have decided to not go the medical licencing route and just run it as a guest stay:

a/. with daily homoeopathic evaluation by our staff.

b/. We would like to have student homoeopaths observe and be involved in the discussions for treatment for the patients.

c/. seminars.

e/. teaching first aid to small groups.

f/. A four day in depth training for inclusion of the homoeopath on the I.H. M. Register.

We will be able to offer low cost room rentals to students during seminars and FREE for overseas students taking the IHM training for the Register.

We understand that the IHM centre will be outside of London, yet only 60/90 minutes by train or 60 minutes by car. We aimed for sunshine, fresh sea air and a cheaper locale.

I can operate the premises as a guest house, and have my clinic in it, so as to offset the ongoing bills, but much prefer to have as a teaching and patient care centre if possible.

We hope to have guest speakers from other countries to give seminars.

Benefits of the IHM teaching seminar

……. I have been a homoeopath for 17 years. In my library are many repertories and Materia Medicas. I found in the four days of study with the IHM, I was no longer struggling with the uncertainty of repertorising with the variants of Kent. For the first time, there was a sense of understanding the case in terms of symptoms and a concise homoeopathic viewpoint………. With over 60 case examples from acutes to chronic, I found an excitement coming back to my clinic. It has been 4 months since my training session and I can honestly say that everything has improved. … thank you so much, Gary. D.W.  USA 2015

……….Who would have thought that the little repertory by Boenninghausen could have solved some long-standing patient cases so easily! The hard part for me is forgetting everything I’ve been taught and learning Hahnemann properly. A great teacher! E.W. Romania 2016.

Having been a victim of all the major aberrant versions of homoeopathy, Kent, Vithoulkas, Sherr, Scholten Sankaran, etc. I have never encountered a more clear, confident, practical approach than Gary Weaver’s. This is real homoeopathy. With his vast clinical experience and the clearest understanding of Hahnemann and Boeninghausen I’ve ever encountered, you have a teacher and practitioner of rare worth and ability. Homoeopaths of all ranges of experience should be taking advantage of this man’s expertise. E.N. California 2019

Our aim at the IHM is and always has been to instil knowledge and ability in the practitioner. We have our teaching faculty in Seville Spain (English) and a teaching faculty in Mexico. (Spanish). We accept non medical trained practitioners as well.

August 2019 in Sevilla is available for the 4-day seminar. Let us know your proposed dates and we will facilitate you.

Susceptibility, Is it important?

One of the most overlooked observations in homoeopathy is the relationship between infection and the ability to be infected. We colloquially refer to this as ‘the soil’ ie the susceptibility of the patient. Not every patient will get infected with a passing disease infection if their immunity prevents it.

Humanity tends to be susceptible to pandemic diseases given the fact that immunity has not built up due to the lack of exposure to similar diseases. However there is another factor involved, and that is the Miasmatic (single disease infection line).

It has been my observation, that a person with a family disease condition going back centuries or from a single infection, for example, tuberculosis, (very prevalent here in Spain from the last century) will contract disease infections that fit the tubercular picture. I have seen in patients a history of DIFFERENT disease expressions that have a root in the tubercular base.

In studying the Tubercular picture, What will be seen is many diseases that on the face of it have nothing to do with Tuberculosis, yet exist solely because of the weakness of the tubercular strain upon the system.

For example, a patient presents with ringworm. Remedies like Sepia often take care of it, yet for the resistant ringworm, or indeed the susceptibility to fungal infections, a few doses of Bacillinum will remove permanently. Not only that, I have seen patients with deep internal fungal infections resolve with Bacillinum. What does this tell us? Two things, Ringworm occurs solely on tubercular patients and secondly, the susceptibility is singularly tubercular.

So how does this work? There is the allopathic approach that kills the infection and the disease is cured, and yet homoeopathy separates the miasm (infection) with the resulting miasmatic disease (disease process).  Disease processes like Meningitis, Alopecia, types of toothache, eczema of eyelids and many more disorders are found in the tubercular picture.

It has been my experience, and now conviction that susceptibility is as important as infection. Lessen or cure the susceptibility, make the host resistant to infection and the cure takes place. Let the body deal with the dis-ease with the help of medicines that aid the immune system to facilitate the task.

I have seen this process work to such a degree that Bacillinum has cured Body Lice where external lotions have failed.

How do I use Bacillinum or the varietals of Tuberculinum? First, a close study of the different SX recorded in the provings to determine which remedy fits the picture, and then I usually give a single dose in water of 200c. I will repeat a week later and by then usually, some reaction is noted. In the case of ringworm, the reaction is quite quick. For fungal infections, it can take a few weeks to show. The fact that it cant be observed visually does not mean that it is not working… I usually repeat the remedy sporadically over a year to be sure.

I am now utilising the LM potencies to compare action and results. (GW. IHM July 2019)

Is an allopathic qualification essential to being a good homoeopathic practitioner?

Dear Colleagues.

Is an allopathic qualification essential to being a good homoeopathic practitioner?

After much discussion ~ and based on the reality that most allopathically trained physicians do NOT have a good grasp on the correct practice of homoeopathy, we at the IHM have concluded that it is not, and moreover, that bridging the gap between medical and non-medical homoeopaths is an integral part of the therapy’s future.

To this end, we have decided on the following:

  • We aim to strengthen the IHM’s presence worldwide, and especially in Spain where its headquarters are currently located, by continuing as an independent homoeopathic research and teaching association offering international seminars, practitioner training and master classes. We have presented Seminars since 1987 and formed 5 teaching colleges.
  • To offer IHM membership to medical and non-medical practitioners, according to IHM’s membership requirements, which will endorse a practitioner as a well trained specialist in homoeopathic medicine regardless of allopathic qualifications. We only teach the therapy as per the Organon and do not overlay the writings of Kent or any modern thinking regarding what homoeopathy is.

The IHM Association will comprise of

  • Support members. (Non practitioners.)
  • Student Homoeopaths
  • H.M licentiate Homoeopaths (medical and non medical)

Only Licentiate Practitioners, those who have trained with the IHM and have passed the requisite entry requirements for endorsement, will be promoted on the IHM’s official register.

What we offer:

Based on the writings and thoughts of Samuel Hahnemann,

“…I have decided to open here in Leipsic, at the beginning of April, an Institute for Graduated Physicians. In this Institute I shall elucidate in every respect the entire homoeopathic system of healing as taught in the “Organon,” and shall make a practical application of it with patients treated in their presence, and thus place my pupils in a condition to be able to practise this system in all cases themselves. A six months’ course will be sufficient to enable any intelligent mind to grasp the principles of this most helpful science of healing. More detailed conditions will be sent on receipt of a prepaid envelope. Dr. Samuel Hahnemann.Leipsic. 4th December, 1811.”

We took a look at the procedure to train persons to become a homoeopathic physician. Knowing that most people cannot take a 6 months sabbatical (as per Hahnemanns proposal) we have devised a method of seminar attendance and home study that spans one year. This will include:

Details pertaining to the professional one year training course. Leading to Licenciateship with the IHM

  • An initial 4 day intensive training session at our Seville Spain faculty. This training is for both neophytes and practicing consultants.
  • A further period of guided home study.Online discussions.Another day 5 training session in our Seville faculty with emphasis on case management.
  • A final assessment by the IHM officers and moderators as to readiness to be placed on the IHM register as a licentiate of the Institute.

(If in the opinion of the training officers, if is thought that a practitioner is of sufficient knowledge and expertise and practices according to Hahnemanns methods, the IHM will consider awarding a licentiateship after the primary one week training.)

What we cover in the 4 day intensive.

  • A thorough grounding in Hahnemanns methodology and teachings.
  • You will see through case analysis how his method of understanding the disease state is superior to any other and allows for an accurate case management program.
  • You will see what a ‘miasm’ is and how to take it into account if required.
  • You will learn LM or Q potencies and how to use them.
  • You will learn rubric understanding of the Therapeutic Pocket Book and see its superiority in case analysis.
  • You will have more success in your practice utilizing Hahnemanns directions.

The languages used for teaching are English or Spanish.

(For those in South America, we also have a IHM teaching course in operation: https://institutodemedicinahomoeopaticaamericalatina.wordpress.com/2016/09/12/curso-de-capacitacion-homeopatica-para-principiantes-online-o-semipresencial/

For those in Asia, we have a course for beginners based in Hong kong. http://homeopathyhk.academy/

For those in Israel we have a practitioner training. Contact vera.homeopath@gmail . com

We will consider traveling to a location and conducting the teaching on site for 6 or more students for the 4 day intensive. Contact us to discuss.

We also conduct 2 day seminars in Spain. Contact us to discuss.

The IHM uses primary source materials for all of its teachings. Gary Weaver and Vladimir Polony compiled the SYNOPSIS computer program and spent 3 years working on updating the 1846 Therapeutic Pocket Book by Boenninghausen, to correct errors of insertion, gradings and removing the incorrect additions by Allen. P & W also clarified the outdated English language and revised the terminology yet remained true to the original meaning. The repertory has been translated from the original German (included in the program) to English, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew and Polish. More languages will be added as and when.
